The department specializes mostly in electrical power, electronics, telecommunication and Instrumentation Control Engineering options. We also offer short courses e.g. solar installation system and CBET course in Electrical Installation Level 5 among other courses.

The current population in the department is over 200 trainees.

The examination bodies for the module courses are KNEC, NITA and CDACC for the competency-based curriculum courses.

The determination of the department to respond to the market needs in the engineering industry has been reflected in venturing to offer part-time classes for those who are employed and wait to advocate in both electrical and telecommunication engineering option and other technological based courses.

We are proud to have very aggressive focused and competent trainers who are ready to efficiently and competently deliver the best to our trainees for self-reliance.

The projected focus of the department is to expand the training of diploma courses by offering Higher National Diploma certificate courses, and incorporate more research and innovation in the said fields in order to produce enough competent manpower to meet the requirements of vision 2030.

As a department we have produced many well skilled and employable personnel both males and females who are serving in different sectors of economy e.g. KPLC, KENGEN transmission stations just to mention but a few.
