MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD OF SECTION

tourismTourism department is one of the oldest in the Polytechnic. It was established in the year 1982. Over the years the department has been headed by several HODS.

The trainee population ranges between 200-300 per academic year. The department has well trained and competent trainers. The department offers core courses in tourism management that equip graduates with knowledge, skills and competencies necessary to meet both the market and societal demands.

Training is enhanced by practical sessions conducted through mandatory field trips and industry visits where trainees are exposed to current leisure, recreation, tourism and managerial issues. Additionally, trainees gain valuable work experiences through the compulsory three months industrial attachment.

The trainees can be attached in various sectors in the tourism and hospitality industry such as hotels, protected areas. airlines, tour firms, museums among others.
